Macintosh Installation

Follow the steps below...

  1. Retrieve the email sent to you by support@wellworks.com with your account information.  You will need this for steps 8,9 and 10.

  2. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/remote-desktop/default.mspx and click Download to download the MAC RDC 2.0 to your system.

  3. When the download begins, your download manager will pop up. On some Macs the download manager doesn't automatically pop up. In these cases either click on your "finder" or hit command F and do a search for the download manager. When the download is complete, you will have an icon in the Downloads pop up called, "Remote Desktop Connection".

  4. Double click on the Remote Desktop Connection Icon within the download manager to open up a remote Desktop connection folder. You will see 4 items, the top center item is called, "Remote Desktop Connection". It resembles a monitor with a satellite dish behind it. You may then close the download manager as well as the Microsoft.com/mac.

  5. Click on the Remote Desktop Connection and drag it over to your desktop. Some clients prefer to drag it all the way over to their tool bar to keep it out of the way. Your choice.
You may now close the Remote Desktop Connection folder.

  6. Double Click on the Remote Desktop Connection Icon.  You will then need to enter the following information on the Remote Desktop login window.

  7. In Computer enter information provided by email

  8. In User Name enter information provided by email

  9. In Password enter information provided by email

  10. Before clicking Connect, you want to setup your RDC configuration settings.  On your Mac File menu, select Change settings and the RDC options window will open.

  11. Leave Domain Blank, click, "Add to Keychain"

  12. Go to the Display tab. Under Remote Desktop Size, click on the drop-down arrow and select a size. The most common monitor size is: 1024 X 768. Select this. If this screen size proves to be unsatisfactory for your monitor, you can always begin again with step six and when you get to step 11, experiment with a different screen size.

  13. While still on the Display tab, go down to the Colors drop down menu and select, "Thousands".

  14. Click the local resources tab. Under local devices click Printers.

  15. Return to the General Tab and hit, "save as." Erase the word, "Default", and name it, "Wellworks". Make the Where location the desktop. Later, you can always move it elsewhere if you prefer. Close the Remote Desktop Connection pop up.

  16. A new icon is now on your desktop, "Wellworks". It resembles a sheet of paper with an edge turned down and has the image of the Monitor with Satellite dish sticking out of it. Double click on this icon to access your Wellworks with the settings you have just edited (your username, password, screen size).

  1. In Communiqué, click Exit Communiqué on the left under the Wellworks logo
  2. In Manager, click EXIT on the bottom of the left menu system

Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, the Wellworks window may immediately close or it might take 15 - 30 seconds to close.  If it doesn't close immediately, you can minimize it using the white tab sticking down from the center of the top of your screen (sometimes you have to move your mouse pointer up to the top middle of the screen border to see this tab).

The only reason we Exited out of Wellworks right away was to try logging in again!  The goal was to have the connection information stored permanently behind the desktop icon file so that you won't have to remember it at future login attempts.  (Note:  if you don't want permanently set automatic logins from your desktop icon, you can edit out the password repeating the steps under the pictures above.)

  1. Back on your PC desktop, click into the Wellworks icon again, to once again open Wellworks.  If we were successful with the steps above, the login proceeds with no interruption.
  2. If the credentials have not been completely saved, a login password request will popup again.

If help is needed to complete the configuration, contact Wellworks support.
